A Friend, Brother and Son
A Friend, Brother and Son
Andrew Narcus was born August 11, 1981, son of Ronald and Sharon Narcus and brother of John Narcus. Andy grew up in Sudbury, MA, and excelled as a student and an athlete. At a young age, Andy was quick to make friends in school and was an active part of many athletic teams growing up. Andy always put school as his main priority and he had the ability to put the same concentration and dedication into sports. Andy enjoyed many sports but his true favorite was hockey. He was an excellent hockey player who excelled at left wing representing the number six through high school. Andy was an intense athlete providing a physical presence on the ice as well as a valued team player.
During Andy’s senior year in high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps to serve active duty. At age 18, Andy trained at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island South Carolina. He graduated from boot camp on November 10th, 2000 and completed Marine Combat Training in December of 2000. After attending his military occupation specialty training at 29 Palms CA. he was stationed at Okinawa Japan. Once completing his year of overseas duty he returned to the U.S. and received orders to Camp Pendleton CA.
On December 19, 2002 Andy was driving on interstate 40, eastbound making the journey home from California to Massachusetts for Christmas. Andy pulled over and parked his Jeep on the side of an off ramp in Holbrook Arizona to rest. Shortly after Andy was killed by vehicular homicide, hit and run manslaughter; he was 21 years old. The person who killed Andy was never found and the case was never solved.
Andy was a proud Marine who took incredible pride in every action of his life; Andy meritoriously earned the rank of Corporal in July of 2002. Andy always impressed everyone with his positive attitude and his strong demeanor and could make you smile even when you were not in the mood for laughter. Whether Andy was being a loving son, brother, friend, teammate, or Marine, he carried himself with honor and respect.
It our highest honor to award scholarship's to students in Andy's memory. Thank you for your support.
